Oxwich Kayak Fishing Competition

19th July 2014 saw the return of the Oxwich Kayak Fishing Competition, organised by South Wales Kayak Anglers, in association with Palm Equipment and Escape Watersports. The Oxwich match is a species hunt, with the winner being the angler to have caught the most species. In the case of a draw, the prize goes to the first one back, so timing is important too! An excellent turn out and some lovely weather made for a great day's fishing. Enjoyed by all.SWKA's chairman Ed Gibson said, " Our Oxwich Comp went very well, we are now officially the largest kayak fishing competition in Europe, we raised a staggering £2000 for Horton RNLI Station. We had 147 kayaks on the water".

Oxwich 2014 saw record numbers attend this fantastic event in a stunning part of Wales, the weather was stunning yet again and SWKA managed to get 147 kayaks on the water resulting in The Oxwich Competition being the largest kayak fishing event in the UK and possibly Europe.
Ed Gibson thanked all sponsors for making this event happen and he hopes they can continue to even better this event next year.
A BIG THANK You to Palm Equipment, Escape Watersports, wilderness systems, Raymarine, Railblazer, Conflex, Tronixpro, sidewinder, Country stores, redgil, Leeda, Icom, skwoosh and the many more that helped to make this event what it on the day.
They managed to count 29 species on the day with a few regulars not making an appearance like the Bass so it just goes to show that this venue truly is the place to fish with a vast amount of species to be had.
SWKA also managed to raise a staggering £2000 for the RNLI, a cracking figure for such a worth while cause.
